One of the yummiest aspects of St Petersburg is the ever-evolving culinary landscape. Here at Gulf Living Group, we love trying out new local restaurants, and it’s about time we share some of our experiences with you.
Sammy + Paco’s is a recently-opened cafe and bakery from the team behind Lolita’s Wine Market and Sophia’s Cucina, which closed earlier this year.
While the restaurants were named after the owners’ dogs Lola and Sophie, this new spot is named after their two cats, and you can see them depicted in the logo.
Located right on 5th Ave in Historic Kenwood, the café features indoor and outdoor seating and ample parking out front. You order your meals and drinks from the counter, and the servers bring the dishes out to your table.
The bakery selection looked amazing, but we got there just before 11 AM, so we opted to try some of the breakfast and lunch items. We weren’t disappointed!
The Paco’s Benedict ($13) was a twist on the classic, with beet-cured salmon (amazing), poached egg, heirloom tomatoes, and Hollandaise on marble rye. We also ordered a side of Breakfast Potato Medley, which was lovely with Maldon sea salt and a chipotle-lime aioli.
Our lunch dish was the Aristo-cat BLT ($12), which sported the same beet-cured salmon, with bacon, tomatoes, watercress, and tzatziki on a delicious country loaf. This was served with house-made chips and a wonderful horseradish French grain aioli.
The coffee and chai tea were perfect, and we can’t wait to go back and have them again, but next time with some of the scrumptious baked treats!
